We didn't build this in an office. We built it in the field.
Inspection Butler comes from WNCIL — a working well, septic, and plumbing company in western North Carolina. We use it every single day on our own jobs.
The 9pm report problem
Here's how it used to go. Spend the day on wells and septic systems. Fill a camera roll with photos. Scribble notes on a clipboard that's seen better days. Then sit down at the kitchen table at 9 o'clock at night and try to turn all of it into a report that looks professional — matching photos to findings from memory, hunting for the right prices, hoping you didn't forget anything.
We looked at the big software platforms. Every one of them was built for giant HVAC shops with an office full of staff — too expensive, too complicated, and none of them knew a well cap from a clean-out. They wanted enterprise money and a six-week setup to do something we just needed done by dinner.
So we built the tool we wished we had
Inspection Butler started as the thing we needed for our own crew: a guided, photo-first way to do a well or septic inspection on a phone, in the field, with no signal — and have a clean, professional report ready before we pulled out of the driveway. Then we taught it to check our own work with AI, so an obvious mistake never makes it to a homeowner. Then we let you just talk through the job and have it write the report for you.
Every field on every checklist, every price, every little workflow detail — it all came from real jobs. Not a focus group. Not a whiteboard. Actual wells. Actual tanks. Actual mud on the boots.
The honest part
A lot of software companies will tell you they were "built by contractors, for contractors." Most of them are guessing. We're not. We run a real water-trades business on this software — if it doesn't work on a real job, we feel it the same day you would. That's the whole point.
If water runs through it, we do it.
Who it's for
Owner-operators and small crews in the water trades — well drillers and pump installers, septic installers and inspectors, plumbers, drain and sewer contractors. The folks the big platforms treat as an afterthought. If you looked at ServiceTitan and walked away because it was too much, you're exactly who we made this for.
Made by the trade, for the trade.
Run your next well or septic report on a tool that actually gets the job.
